SILK SCARF CARE TIPS

All our scarves are made of 100% silk twill. This fabric is very glossy, supple and elastic. But at the same time it is very delicate and needs special care. To avoid fabric damage and help the longevity of your scarf’s life, you should be careful when cleaning, drying, ironing and storing you silk scarf.

  1. A pure silk scarf is highly recommended to be dry-cleaned.
  2. In case, you have no time or possibility to have it dry-cleaned, test it for color bleeding: dip the scarf partially into the luke warm water. If dye releases into the water, take your silk scarf to the dry cleaner’s.
  3. If the garment is a solid color, wash it alone – don’t mix with other clothes.
  4. Never use machine washing – wash it only by hand!
  5. When hand washing, do not use hot water. Wash your scarf with warm water below 30 degrees.
  6. Use detergents suitable and safe for silks and satins in small amounts. Don’t use washing powder and soap, which make silk yellow and hard.
  7. Do not use strong rubbing or twisting. The technique should be very gentle without soaking for a long time.
  8. Treat the scarf with softener to prevent static electricity and increase its elasticity.
  9. Rinse in a cold water for 2-3 times to get rid of excess detergent.
  1. Take a large, clean bath towel, lay the scarf flat on it and fold the towel over the scarf.
  2. To remove a lot of water, press down on the folded towel up and down the length of the scarf with your hands. This will absorb excess moisture.
  3. Repeat with the new dry towel.
  4. Dry only indoors in the shade without sunlight to avoid its fading out.
  1. It’s better to use a steamer.
  2. In case you don’t have a steamer handy, use the iron with the steam function.
  3. Check your iron base to be clean. Use low temperature and a piece of pressing cloth at the same time.
  4. Iron the scarf on the reverse until the scarf feels dry to the touch.
  1. When not in use, it’s better to put your scarf into a breathable fabric or paper bag and hang it up in a cool dry place.
  2. Silk is a protein, this means it can attract moths. So when storing, it’s better to put some natural insect proof spices into the storing bag with your scarf.
  3. Never spray perfume onto your silk scarf!
